My new years resolution for 2012 is to change my eating habits, start running again and try to be a little more eco-friendly. It has been four years since I have been an active runner so training for a marathon seems intimidating. This blog is about the trials and tribulations of building a mean green marathoner from scratch.

Days One and Two
12/31/11- Day one of running and it felt pretty good! I was apprehensive at first, until I got out there. Went with a running buddy, which made it easy to set the pace, especially since we are both starting at the same level: beginner. We only ran a mile, but we walked two so we weren’t too mad at ourselves. Eventually we will be able to run the entire three mile loop.
1/2/11- Went out for another run today and enjoyed the cool Florida weather right before the rain. My running partner and I ran a mile and a half today, which is quite a bit further than our previous run. Slowly but surely, we are building our way up. As apprehensive as I was, it felt pretty good to just get out there! Slow and steady may not always win the race, but it’s a good foundation to build upon:)
Getting Started...
No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch.” This is too true. Putting yourself out there and changing your lifestyle is an intimidating task. The hardest part about getting back into running is the endless list of excuses:
“I’m busy…”
“I’m tired…”
“Tommorrow!”
“I’m embarrassed for people to see me huffing and puffing”
“I can barely run a mile.”
“It’s just too hard.”
The beginning of my training will not be a piece of cake, but I’ve decided that I’m done making excuses. The only person that has stopped me is myself and I will no longer allow myself to be an obstacle.
